2021 Eastern Market Online Application

Welcome to the Eastern Market 2021 New Vendor application process. Thank you for your interest in our public market.

We are now accepting applications for NEW VENDORS to the public market. We are honored to continue supporting local food, agriculture, and small business vendors, and despite the continuing limits placed on us by the COVID-19 pandemic, we look forward to a healthy and successful 2021 public market season.


DUE TO THE ONGOING COVID-19 PANDEMIC, WE WILL BE ACCEPTING A VERY LIMITED NUMBER OF NEW VENDORS TO THE MARKET. 

Please read the following information before starting the application process. 

This application is for vendors who DO NOT currently sell at Eastern Market.


APPLICATION TIMELINE

We will accept applications for review UNTIL Friday, May 14, 2021.

Applications will be reviewed on a continuous 3-week cycle as follows:

WEEK 1: Your application received between Sunday and Saturday

WEEK 2: Your application will be reviewed on Friday of week 2

WEEK 3: Notice of your application status will be sent by Friday of week 3


NOTIFICATION METHOD

All applicants will be notified of the application status via their Farmspread account.

For ACCEPTED applicants, your notice of acceptance will include the next steps.

For DENIED applicants, your notice of denial will ask if you are interested in being directed to other markets looking for vendors in your product category.


PLEASE NOTE: We are NOT accepting vendors in the following categories:

a.     Vendors producing under the Cottage Food Law

b.     Baked goods

c.     T-shirt vendors

d.    Jewelry vendors

e.    Caramel corn, elephant ears, cotton candy, and other “carnival” type foods


HOW TO APPLY TO BE A VENDOR:

1.     Review the 2021 public market policies and procedures.

2.     Fill out the online application:

a.     First, you must have a Farmspread account to apply to Eastern Market: Go to farmspread.com, click “Register”, fill out the form, and click the “Register” button. 

b.     Once you have registered, select “Create a Vendor Profile” and fill in your business information on the next page. 

c.     Once your vendor profile is created, apply to sell at Eastern Market by going to this page. Click “Sell here” and then on the next page select “Apply to market”. Fill out the application and select “Submit application” at the bottom of the page. You’ll receive an email to confirm your submission!

3.     Submit samples, ONLY IF REQUESTED, in person to the Eastern Market Offices at 2934 Russell St, Detroit MI 48207 Monday – Friday between 8AM - 4PM. 

Your application is not considered complete and will not be considered until all required documents and attachments are received.

Become a Street Performer

NOTE: We are not allowing street performances at this time due to COVID-19 regulations.

We welcome street performers of all kinds to create an infectious spirit throughout our market. Performers have their opportunity to showcase their talents for thousands of visitors of all ages, ethnicities, and localities.

Rules for Street Performers

  • Street performers must be at least 12 years old.
  • A performance group should not exceed four people unless you get written permission from Eastern Market Corporation (EMC).
  • Performers requesting additional space or amplification should submit a specific request for our permission.
  • All street performers must apply in person at our office at 2934 Russell Street.

Applying to be a Street Performer

  1. Complete an application form at 2934 Russell Street and pay our one-time registration free of $5.00 (credit card, cash, check or money order made payable to Eastern Market Corporation).
  2. Street performer slots are assigned at the EMC office on the day of performance on a first-come, first-served basis for our Tuesday, Saturday, and Sunday markets.
  3. If a performance slot is available, you will receive an approved performer badge, which you should bring with you whenever you perform. There is a $5.00 fine for performing without your badge.

Welcome Center Hours

Stop in to ask a question, get maps and recipes, or present your Bridge Card to receive tokens accepted at many vendors under the sheds.

  • Saturday 6am-4pm (year-round)
  • Tuesday 9am-3pm (June-Sept.)
  • Sunday 10am-4pm (June-Sept.)
